Itinerary of 3 Days from Agadir to Erg Chegaga Sahara Desert

Day 1: Agadir – Taliouine – Agdz – Zagora (Approx. 360 km)

In the morning, your driver from Gorgeous Morocco Tours will pick you up from your hotel in Agadir, marking the start of your exciting desert journey.

First, we travel southeast through the beautiful Souss Valley toward Taliouine, widely known as Morocco’s saffron capital. Here, we will stop to visit a local saffron cooperative where you can learn about the cultivation of this precious spice.

Afterwards, we continue toward Agdz, where we stop for a relaxing lunch.

In the afternoon, we visit the historic Tamnougalt Kasbah, one of the oldest kasbahs in southeastern Morocco, offering a glimpse into traditional architecture and local history.

Next, we drive through the spectacular Draa Valley, famous for its immense palm groves stretching for more than 150 km, making it one of the largest palm valleys in Morocco.

By evening, we arrive in Zagora, where you will spend the night in a comfortable riad or hotel.

Day 2: Zagora – M’Hamid – Erg Chegaga (Approx. 110 km)

After breakfast at your hotel, we continue deeper into the desert. First, we visit a historic Koranic library, where you can see ancient manuscripts and learn about the region’s cultural heritage.

Then we travel toward M’Hamid El Ghizlane, the last village before the vast Sahara Desert and often referred to as the gateway to the desert.

After lunch in M’Hamid, we begin our off-road adventure across the desert to reach the magnificent Erg Chegaga dunes. These dunes are among the largest in Morocco, rising up to 300 meters and stretching over 40 kilometers.

Upon arrival, you will enjoy a camel ride across the golden dunes, allowing you to admire a breathtaking sunset over the Sahara.

In the evening, a traditional Moroccan dinner will be served at the desert camp, followed by local Saharan music around the campfire. Overnight stay in a comfortable nomadic desert camp under the stars.

Day 3: Erg Chegaga – Foum Zguid – Taznakht – Taroudant – Agadir (Approx. 330 km)

After breakfast at the desert camp, we begin the final part of our journey.

First, we cross the vast dry lake of Iriki, following part of the historic Paris-Dakar Rally route, before reaching the town of Foum Zguid.

Next, we continue to Taznakht, a town famous for its handcrafted Berber carpets, where we stop for lunch.

In the afternoon, we drive toward Taroudant, often called the “Little Marrakech” because of its impressive ramparts and traditional markets.

Finally, we return to Agadir, arriving in the late afternoon and marking the end of your unforgettable 3-day Sahara desert adventure.
