Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Errachidia – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga
Our 5-day tour from Fes to Marrakech begins with a pick-up from your riad in Fes at 8:30 am, heading to Merzouga. Along the way, we’ll stop at various attractions, starting with Ifrane, known as “the Switzerland of Morocco.” Next, we’ll visit the cedar forest of Azrou, then continue to Midelt, the “apple town.” We’ll pass through Tizi N’telghemt and Rich, arriving at the beautiful Ziz Valley for a quick photo stop. We’ll reach Merzouga around 4:00 pm, where you’ll begin your camel trek to the camp.
During the camel trek, you’ll pause for a sunset viewing before arriving at your camp by early evening. The trek lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Enjoy a magical night under the stars with dinner at the camp in your private tent.
Day 2: Merzouga Exploration
Wake up early to catch a breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara. After a hot shower and breakfast at the camp, we’ll begin a 4×4 adventure around Merzouga. First, we’ll visit a nomadic family to experience their way of life, followed by a trip to the Mifis mines. Next, we’ll stop at Khamlia village to enjoy a live performance of traditional Gnawa music, with lunch at a local restaurant. Later in the afternoon, we’ll return to your hotel in Merzouga for some relaxation.
Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
On the third day, your driver will pick you up from the hotel in Merzouga as we head toward Dades Valley. Our first stop is Rissani’s traditional weekly market, a glimpse into authentic rural life. We’ll continue to Todra Gorge, a popular spot for rock climbing. After lunch in the area, we’ll drive on to Dades Valley, where you’ll spend the night in a hotel overlooking the valley.
Day 4: Dades Valley – Kelaat M’Gouna – Skoura Valley – Amridil Kasbah – Ouarzazate
After breakfast, we’ll depart from your hotel in Dades and head toward Ouarzazate. Along the way, we’ll pass through Kelaat M’Gouna, also known as the “city of roses,” and travel along the Road of 1,000 Kasbahs. We’ll visit the historic Amridil Kasbah before reaching Ouarzazate around 3:00 pm, where you’ll stay overnight in this “Hollywood of Africa.”
Day 5: Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Tizi N’Tichka – Marrakech
On our final day, we’ll explore the Atlas Film Studios and then head to Ait Benhaddou, the largest kasbah in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. Numerous films, including *Gladiator* and *Lawrence of Arabia*, have been shot here. We’ll then cross the High Atlas Mountains through the majestic Tizi N’Tichka Pass (2,260 m) before arriving in Marrakech in the early afternoon. Your driver will drop you off at your accommodation, marking the end of our 5-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech via the Sahara.
