Itinerary : 3 days from Agadir to Chigaga sahara desert
Day 1: Agadir – Taliouine – Agdz – Zagora
In the morning, your driver from Gorgeous Morocco Tours will pick you up, marking the start of your exciting journey. First, we will depart from Agadir, heading southeast and passing through the charming town of Taliouine, known as Morocco’s saffron capital. Here, we will pause to visit a saffron cooperative and learn about the region’s prized spice. Next, we will continue to Agdz, where a delicious lunch awaits.
After lunch, we will visit Tamnougalt, one of the oldest kasbahs in southeastern Morocco, offering a glimpse into the region’s rich history. From there, our journey takes us through the expansive Draa Valley, home to the largest palm grove in Morocco, stretching over 151 km. In the evening, we will arrive in Zagora, where you will spend the night in a charming riad or hotel, relaxing in comfort.
Day 2: Zagora – M’Hamid – Erg Chegaga
After enjoying a hearty breakfast in your luxury camp, the day begins with a visit to a fascinating Koranic library, where you can explore the historical manuscripts. We will then proceed towards M’Hamid, often referred to as the “gateway to the desert,” where lunch will be served.
Following lunch, we set off for the majestic Erg Chigaga sand dunes, Morocco’s second-highest dunes, reaching an impressive 300 meters in height and extending over 40 kilometers. As the sun sets over the golden dunes, you’ll be captivated by the serene beauty of the desert. In the evening, savor a traditional Saharan dinner accompanied by mesmerizing local songs. Your overnight stay will be in a traditional nomadic tent under the star-studded desert sky.
Day 3: Erg Chegaga – Taznakht – Taroudant – Agadir
After a delightful breakfast at the desert camp, we embark on the final leg of our 3-day Sahara desert tour. Our journey begins as we travel through Foum Zguid, following the historic track of the Paris-Dakar Rally and crossing the striking dry lake of Iriqui.
Midway, we will stop for lunch in Taznakht, a town renowned for its handcrafted Berber rugs and vibrant culture. From Taznakht, we continue towards Taroudant, often referred to as the “Little Marrakech,” before heading back to Agadir. You can expect to arrive in Agadir in the late afternoon, concluding your unforgettable desert adventure.
